Kym Afford

Self taught artist in sculpture and caricature.
Caricaturist to both The Chronicle and The Stock journal during the ‘70’s and early ‘80s. During this period explored and developed wood and steel sculpture, following my nose through rubbish dumps for found pieces.
I developed welded figures in direct welded bronze after Nathan Cabbot Hale of America. I remain an individual here using this method.
I had my own foundry and have cast bronzes for commissions.

• 1992 - One term at North Adelaide School of Art (Life drawing)
  

• 1993 - Final term Adelaide Central School of art (Life drawing with Rod Taylor and Anna Platten)
  

• 1994 - Adelaide Central School of Art ( Life Drawing with Rod Taylor and Anna Platten)
  

• I995 - Adelaide Central School of Art (Tonal realism with Anna Platten)
  

• 1996 - Mount Barker Tafe (Watercolours with Janet Ayliffe)
  

• 1997 - Adelaide Central School of Art (Oils with Jodie Elvy and Lisa Young)
  

• 1998 to 2004 - Exhibited in SALA week exhibitions at the Academy, Hahndorf and with Artists' Voice 'Artist Trail' and continuing at the Academy. Worked by commission in oils and sculpture, and developed Sculpture Park on own property (Was open to the public 7/8 AUGUST for SALA week 2004) Exhibited at The Cedars in the 2000, 2002, 2004 Festival Fringe and at the 9"x5" exhibition run by The Artists' Voice at the Mount Barker Hospital. Nov. 2002. Sold out.
